Rare find! Here we have a 0.27 point natural rare Alexandrite gemstone set into a yellow gold pendant. Compared to quite a few alexandrites that we have sourced and rejected, this gemstone is quite clear and not so cloudy and heavilly included! The average carat weight of the individual alexandrite gemstones we are normally able to source have been around 0.10 points so to find a gemstone at a tad of 1/4 of a carat was a great find. The alexandrite measures 5mm x 3mm and the length of the pendant from the top of the bale is approximately 10mm. Generally, Alexandrite is a strongly pleochroic (trichroic) gem and will exhibit emerald green, through to grey/blues/mauves/reds dependent on lighting. Because of the size of this particular example, there was only a slight shift in colour from the green to the mauve, please see our photo taken in a direct light source. Please be assured, the gold has been hallmarked 375 in the UK.
